Living With it
Motivational Event Presentations by Keynote speaker, trainer and consultant Kris Kuester for Corporate events, private functions, Commencements and celebrations
A Confluence of Factors
Long before Kris Kuester founded Living With it, a not for profit organization; and long before he even contemplated making his first motivational event presentation, seemingly unrelated events were coming together to shape, guide and ultimately define his future – and the futures of many others.
Kris had been a model student and All American baseball player. He had learned music and become an accomplished guitar player and singer. Mentored for five years by Grammy Award winning songwriter and Nashville producer Dennis Morgan, Kris also toured as an independent country music artist working with stars like Trisha Yearwood, Marty Stuart, Pam Tillis and Sawyer Brown. Kris had found his life's center in his own unique spirituality. He had met, fallen deeply in love with and married his wife, Trudy. Finally, he was diagnosed with an incurable, degenerative disease of the spinal cord: syringomyelia.
Syringomyelia is a disorder in which a cyst or cavity forms within the spinal cord. This cyst, called a syrinx, can expand and elongate over time, destroying the spinal cord. The damage may result in pain, paralysis, weakness, and stiffness in the back, shoulders, and extremities. Syringomyelia may also cause a loss of the ability to feel extremes of hot or cold, especially in the hands.
Founding Living With it and delivering motivational event presentations nationwide did not slowly wash over Kris's mind. The concept struck him like a bright sun on sleepy eyes, causing within him an instant paradigm shift. Living With it was now his focus, his most delightful and consuming obsession. He knew it was what he had to do. The cost was not of concern to him. The possibility of failure never entered his mind. He didn't even balk at the fact that he would have to become a public speaker – despite his innate trepidation regarding public speaking.
Into The Real World
The birth of Living With it into the real world was a subtle, but poignant event. It began with Kris excitedly telling his wife, Trudy, about his idea; when she came home from work one day. Trudy was momentarily taken aback by Kris's enthusiastic presentation, and raised the logical questions – including his distaste for speaking to groups. But it only took a few minutes for Trudy to realize that Kris, who she'd stood with through so many of life's traumas, was going to follow this path. She also knew that Kris would triumph over any odds and make Living With it a success – just as he had endured a crippling disease, two brain surgeries, learned to walk again, play the guitar again and much more.
Living With it Today
Kris, now devoid of his fear of public speaking, delivers his uniquely entertaining brand of humor, music, spirituality and life direction in all of his motivational event presentations and keynote speaker engagements. His regular guy demeanor and presence combine with examples from his own life to create a profound, almost palpable audience empathy and give renewed energy and hope to countless people who have attended his motivational event presentations. As Kris says "hope, not panic" is at the very core of Living With it.
What is your "it?" Kris's presentations will help you find out — and then methodically show you how to happily live with it – every single day.
